About Conrado

Twenty years building a language school that feels like a second home.

Conrado was founded in 2006 by Juul Kampstra. What began with a handful of groups in Amstelveen has grown into two of its own locations, around fifty people and thousands of students who learned their first Dutch words here.

Frequently asked questions

What students ask us most often.

Costs

That depends on your situation. If you have a civic integration obligation as a family migrant or other migrant, you can often borrow up to €10,000 from DUO for your course and exams. If you are an asylum status holder under the Civic Integration Act 2021, the municipality pays for your integration and you do not need to borrow. We help you with the application, the paperwork and all contact with DUO. The current rules are on inburgeren.nl.
You pay for every scheduled lesson, including any you miss. The more often you attend, the sooner you pass your civic integration and the less you pay in the end. If you have a civic integration obligation, you can often take out a loan with DUO.
Private courses currently cost €15 per lesson hour. You pay for every scheduled lesson. On top of that you pay for the course materials: from €50 up to a maximum of €250, depending on the length of the course. For civic integration it depends on your route and how it is paid for (DUO loan, municipality or yourself). For Dutch in the workplace we prepare a quote. During the intake we always give an honest, no-obligation estimate of the total cost first.

Levels and routes

The B1 route is for people who can reach level B1. The Z route is for people for whom B1 is not realistic within three years. Both lead to meeting your civic integration obligation. The municipality decides which route you follow: it is set out in your personal integration plan (PIP). During our intake we assess your language level. If the route turns out not to fit, we can ask the municipality to change it.
Programme I prepares you for level B1 and is aimed at work and vocational education. Programme II takes you to level B2, for moving on to a university of applied sciences or research university. During the intake we look at which programme suits your goal.

Starting and joining

That depends on your programme and your starting level. During the intake we draw up a realistic schedule together, based on the personal integration plan (PIP) you received from your municipality.
Yes. At the start of every month there is an entry point, so you join a group that matches your language level. If the levels within a group drift too far apart, we reshuffle the groups.

Format and tailored programmes

For civic integration we sometimes offer online lessons to students on the B1 route. For business training and private lessons we work with hybrid and online lessons.
For residents of Amstelveen, Aalsmeer, Diemen, Ouder-Amstel, De Ronde Venen and Haarlemmermeer who do not have a civic integration obligation (Taal in de Buurt). Residents of these municipalities who do have that obligation may take part in the Taal en Ouderbetrokkenheid course at primary schools for up to 39 weeks.
Yes. We put together a tailored programme, at your location or online. Request a quote and we will draw up a proposal covering the approach, the schedule and the investment.
